Dr McKay is amazing. He makes me feel very comfortable with my first pregnancy. I also met the midwife, Stacey, today and at almost 34 weeks pregnant she made me feel very comfortable and great about labor and delivery. I would HIGHLY recommend the two of them for anyone. I look forward to being taken care of by this practice when I deliver my first baby.
I politely explained the reasoning for why my balance wasn't paid yet. The front desk woman went back to ask if they could work with me today on my balance, nothing, they wouldn't help me at all.
And now on to the doctors (if you're new to this place, please heed my advice)...... I was shuffled up to GTWC from Manistee because my hypertension and gestational diabetes puts me in a high-risk category and it is assumed that I will need to deliver at Munson in TC. First, they bounced me over to Dr. Madion. What a piece of work he is. He has terrible bedside manner, came off as judgmental and patronizing, rushed me out the door while barely making eye contact with me and quickly dismissing my questions and concerns. I am stuck with him for one more appt. but am switching to Dr. Alissa O'Hagan, whom I've read/heard good things about. I also gave Dr. Kurtz a fair try, and although she was slightly more friendly, she was also condescending and confrontational about how I manage my conditions. She also comes off as very old-school, as she offered no solutions or suggestions on how to alleviate some of my other issues, which should've been easy fixes. She was also in a hurry and didn't listen to me and my husband when we were trying to explain how a certain medication was making feel horrible and why that was a bad thing (example: we live in an upstairs apartment and the medication makes me dizzy).
I went here for both of my pregnancies. I saw and met all the doctors with my first. After meeting everyone, I requested to only see Dr Wright. He is amazing. When I became pregnant with my daughter, I told them he was the only doc I wanted and they made it happen. Had 2 C-section's and he performed
I will be going to another office.
I cant believe how heartless that woman was.
both. I would recommend him to anyone. Amazing bed side manner and truly listened to everything I had to say.
I traveled 1.5 hours one way to be seen today. I arrived at the office thinking I was going to go into my appointment, but I was refused service because I had a $95 copay balance.
So now of course the copay balance is my fault. But sometimes life happens and rough patches happen and with my husband being on short term disability because he is in chemo treatments because he has cancer, I haven't been able to pay that balance off yet.
I was referred to Traverse City Women's Clinic by my primary care provider (PCP) and had my first visit today with Dr. O'Hagan. The facility was easy to find, plenty of parking was available, and the office staff were incredibly friendly and had sent me multiple reminders about my appointment. Dr. O'Hagan was so friendly and easy to talk to, and didn't rush through our appointment after making several recommendations I trust, and I am looking forward to establishing care with her as an OB/GYN. After my visit, I received an email immediately directing me to the online patient portal. I have Priority Health so this in-network visit was covered with a $20 copay and my next appointment was easily scheduled within the following 3 weeks. Glad to have found this location!
The only reason I'm giving this place even just two stars is because the nurses here are wonderful. As for the receptionists, it's a mixed bag--one of them is very curt and often comes off as short and rude. She is also the first receptionist unwilling to allow me to use my married name all because it's not yet on my driver's license, when literally every other healthcare provider I have allows me to go by what is now my "real" name.
I needed to be seen today, I have some severe health problems going on.
If anyone tries to schedule you with either of them, opt out (know your rights). I am a sexual assault survivor and so I need a female ob/gyn in order to even show up to appointments, so my selections are limited in this sense. I am giving O'Hagan a shot next time around so we'll see if she's worth all the accolades. If not, I'm stuck with doctors I either hate or will never meet unless they happen to be on call when I am delivering, because it's so late in the game for me that they won't give me the time of day to rotate with these people. Overall I am finding this place deeply unsatisfying and disappointing. You may be better off at Northwood OB/GYN! Good luck.
The front desk woman with the glasses middle age, had no compassion for our situation. She was rude & had a dismissive attitude. I'm so sorry that my "sad story" didn't make you crack even a "I'm so sorry" towards me. But no you we're rude. I hope that you or your husband never have to go through having Cancer! And I hope that noone is ever rude to you when you explain your cancer situation to them. They refused to see me today. I didn't have the $40 to be seen today, so I was refused service. Like many have stated above. They are only after the money. Some woman there are very kind & friendly. This woman was not.
