My husband and I camping here often. We love the settings and being on the river. Our favorite site is #8. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to connect with nature. There is no power or sewerage. Outhouses are provided. Enjoy your stay but leave your site better than got it. Thanks.
The first public launch on the Boardman River is adjacent to the campground, the next launch is at Scheck's State Forest Campground, about 2-3 hours float, 3.5 miles by road.
This campground has been closed for a few years now.
Forks State Forest Campground is VERY small (only 8 tiny sites), but most sites are beside the river, which is beautiful.
This campground WAS closed from 2009-2014, but it re-opened more than a year ago & remains open (including new tables & fire rings).
This is a nice spot on the Boardman River. For a long canoe or kayak trip you can start at Supply road and get out at forks. You could put in at forks and also get out at the new launch where the Brown Bridge damn has been removed. There are out house and hand water pump here. Be sure to get a Michigan passport permit which is required along with nightly campground fees.
