This place has become our go-to for fine dining in Traverse City. We typically get early seating because we don't like eating too late. What's noticeable is how quickly it fills up after 6:00. Given the limited seating it is a good idea to plan ahead for parties of 4 or more. That said, it's worth it. Chef James and the entire Alliance crew are into what they're doing. The food is imaginative, fresh, and borrows freely from all over the world for inspiration. The idea is to share and taste multiple dishes so eat from each other's plates and order with abandon. Alliance is not a large venue but it doesn't need to be. My bet is that it will grow; steadily, organically, and with a clear idea of who they are and what they want to be.

Small space and loud but they'll expand soon enough. No doubt. Enjoy

Wonderful, terrific on a par/even better than Primo Rockland ME or Grace in Portland ME best octopus I have ever had, tender juicy with great texture and the flavors soared above. Got there a bit after 6pm snuggled up to the bar, great advise from the staff. Fantastic to share the plates and watch the staff and listen to the bubble of conversation around you. The night we were there the flavors were right out of the south of France effervescent, light, crisp in both smell and taste excellent mouth feel. If you wanted and excuse to drink ros'e wine this is the place, the crisp flavors would be perfect. One final note, there is something delightful about looking out at snow while tasting the Mediterranean coast

Served one dish at a time, get a variety and share the food and experience. The Pork and Squash stew was filling and I could have been happy with just that. But the Thai salad and Michigan Kiwi dishes were amazing to boot.

A great experience overall! Food was amazing, but what really made the experience was the fantastic staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating - lots of smiles! They were attentive despite the fast paced night. Did I mention the food was amazing! Check it out!

A reservation is a must. I tgought it was going to be another overhyped small plate place...its not. Amazing food and my manhattan was equally delicious. These folks have it dialed in.

I think this restaurant is over-hyped for what you're actually getting. I understand why the prices are high and what they're trying to achieve, but everything I ate just seemed...meh. Overrated? The service was amazing, I will say that. Drinks were just OK. Best thing was the Taco Al Pastor and Fried Eggplant (which was worth the price and tasted unlike anything else I've had).
