I am from Grand Rapids and this past weekend was my 22nd birthday so 2 other couples went up to TC with my girl friend and I for a little weekend get away. We took 131 to 113 up to TC and the same rout on the way back. Right out side of Kingsley there was a constructions road block with no detour signs but open enough to go around. Being the only way back I knew of I went around it. I justified this because I saw other cars coming from that direction out to the road block. I got about 100 yards past it and realized I couldn't go any further so I turned around and headed back to the road block, I saw a squad car pull out flip his lights on so I instantly pulled over and turned my hazards on. To make the story short I received a ticket for Avoiding traffic control device. when I asked about the detour and how to get back home the officer told me that is for everyone to figure out on their own. I feel like it should of been a warring or at least had detour signs up. So i'm kind of frustrated and I know nothing will come of this, just wanted to speak my mind.
I have the highest respect for the Department and they are doing a great service for us.
I live in the Stone Ridge development and question why the speed limits on Airport Rd. from #131 to Silver Lake Rd. and Silver Lake Rd. are 55 mph? The traffic is sometimes quite heavy and to pull out on these two roads is getting dangerous and seems to me should be 45 mph zones. There is now a lot of traffic in and out of the new YMCA and I am concerned there is going to be some bad accidents unless the speed limits are reduced.
Scum working a sweat? So many complaints, at this point maybe go after federal for not intervening, seriously, called 911 no incident report, in my life the tc police department is a joke.
